Why occupational safety is important
Occupational safety and the protection of employees are legal obligations that affect both employers and employees. Mybuilding24 supports companies in implementing these requirements efficiently and in compliance with the law. From the very first employee, hazards, stresses and risks must be assessed at all workplaces and suitable measures taken to reduce them. In addition to meeting legal requirements, occupational safety increases productivity, employee satisfaction and the company’s image. It reduces absenteeism due to illness or accidents and thus lowers costs. It also minimizes liability risks for company management and meets internal compliance requirements.

Frequently asked questions
Employee protection encompasses all legal and organizational measures designed to ensure the health and safety of employees in the workplace.
The employer has a duty of care and is obliged, among other things, to make workplaces safe, assess hazards and take measures to prevent hazards, provide safety instructions, provide personal protective equipment and maintain first aid facilities.
Employees have the right to a safe workplace, information and instruction on hazards, refusal of hazardous activities if no protective measures have been taken, participation in the design of safety measures (e.g. via safety representatives).
A risk assessment is the systematic identification and evaluation of risks in the workplace and is recorded in the health and safety documents (SiGe). This is carried out by the employer or manager (with the support of the preventive staff if required). Measures to protect employees are developed on this basis and transferred to the instruction documents.
Instructions inform employees about stress, hazards, protective measures and correct behavior at the workplace and are intended to minimize the stress and risk of injury for the employee. They must take place before the start of work or before carrying out new tasks or after special incidents (e.g. (near) accidents) and must be regularly recurring and documented (usually every 12 months).
PPE is personal protective equipment such as helmets, safety goggles, gloves or safety shoes that protect against specific hazards to certain parts of the body such as the head, feet, eyes, hands, skin, etc. It must be used when technical and organizational measures are not sufficient. They must be used if technical and organizational measures are not sufficient.
Both employers and employees are responsible. The employer must ensure that the workplace is designed safely and that the employee is provided with the necessary PPE.
Employees are obliged to avoid or minimize the exposure and risk of injury to themselves or others, to follow the instructions and the instructions of the supervisor and to use the PPE provided.
There are various preventive staff in the company, such as first aiders, safety officers, safety specialists, occupational physicians, fire safety officers, etc., who ensure that safe working conditions are created and monitored.
Safety representatives are the point of contact for employees when it comes to occupational health and safety. They support the implementation of safety measures and act as a link between employees and employers.
Violations may result in administrative penalties for the managing director under trade law or the responsible manager, personal liability risks for supervisors in the event of accidents, recourse claims from accident insurance, business interruptions, damage to the health of employees and damage to the company's image.
To inform employees about the possible stresses and hazards of their workplace
and the correct behavior.
The contents of the employee instructions are derived from the evaluation result or the SiGe document.
Every employee of the company or, in certain areas (e.g. fire protection, evacuation), also visitors or employees of external companies who are temporarily working on the company's premises.
Before carrying out the activity for the first time per workplace.
Theoretical instruction can be given in person or digitally documented. Practical instruction on site is usually provided by the supervisor.
